AYLUS Dix Hills works with the Long Island Harvest to help the needy by distributing food items to agencies. Volunteers worked to load and unload carts directly into the cars of the agencies, providing food items to more than 20+ cars.
The food items distributed include vegetables, meat, dry items (cans and cereal), and drinks (water, milk, tea). Other items such as mouthwash was also distributed.
Later on in the day, Mobile Food market. A Mobile Food market is a place that provides the community with fresh food items directly to the family. During this time we served around 130-140 families including seniors. Some food items such as dairy products (milk and yogurt), eggs, and fruits and vegetables (oranges, tomato cans, zucchini, bell peppers, lettuce, and potatoes). Other items included personal hygiene items (toilet paper).
AYLUS Dix Hills hopes to help the community to the fullest extent and hopes to continue this effort for the future.
