On May 6, 2023, AYLUS members eagerly participated in the annual I Love My Park event, coming together to lend a helping hand in refurbishing the statues at Belmore Lake Park. This cherished community park was in for a delightful makeover, thanks to the dedication and hard work of these passionate volunteers.

One of the focal points of the park, a majestic cannon displayed along the path, received a much-needed facelift. With meticulous attention to detail, AYLUS members took up the task of repainting the cannon, breathing new life into its weathered appearance. The cannon’s rejuvenation not only enhanced its aesthetic appeal but also honored its historical significance, allowing visitors to appreciate its timeless charm.

The beautification efforts didn’t stop there. The park’s fence, serving as a vital element of its boundaries, also underwent a refreshing transformation. AYLUS members meticulously repainted the fence, ensuring that it looked vibrant and inviting once again. Their meticulous work showcased their commitment to preserving the park’s visual allure and creating a welcoming ambiance for all who visit.

The collaboration between AYLUS and the I Love My Park event not only served to revitalize the physical elements of Belmore Lake Park but also fostered a sense of community pride and stewardship. By actively engaging in the restoration process, AYLUS members demonstrated their genuine love for the park and their desire to preserve its beauty for future generations to enjoy.

The collective efforts of these dedicated volunteers underscore the power of grassroots initiatives in maintaining and preserving local landmarks and public spaces. Through their selfless actions, AYLUS members became advocates for environmental conservation and the importance of preserving the cultural heritage present in our community.

As the vibrant colors of the freshly painted cannon and fence now adorn Belmore Lake Park, it serves as a visual testament to the impact that collective efforts can have on transforming and preserving public spaces. AYLUS Oyster Bay’s participation in the I Love My Park event showcases the potential of youth-led initiatives in shaping a more beautiful and sustainable world.

As they continue their commitment to community service and environmental stewardship, AYLUS members inspire others to take pride in their local parks and landmarks, fostering a deep-rooted sense of ownership and responsibility for the preservation of our natural and cultural treasures.
