On April 7th, 2023, AYLUS Pearland organized a two-hour preparation session at the Sunrise Lakes clubhouse to gear up for the upcoming Ed White Health Fair on April 15th, 2023. The session focused on finalizing logistics, duties, and groups for the fair, with a special emphasis on developing effective communication strategies for the anticipated Hispanic attendees. Volunteers were assigned to their respective stations, discussed their duties, and documented detailed steps to serve the guests. Led by Ms. Rush, a registered nurse, the volunteers were coached on how to handle various situations that might arise during the event. To cater to guests who spoke a different language, Ms. Rush guided volunteers to translate and note down key phrases and actions that could be used in such situations. The interactive session was designed to ensure that volunteers were well-prepared to make the Ed White Health Fair a success and a pleasant experience for all.
