AYLUS Dix Hills Branch works with the Alzheimer’s and dementia center to provide entertainment for patients on March 25, 2023. Volunteers provided entertainment to the seniors by dancing with them, engaging with them through having meaningful conversations and communicating possible activities that they can do to further enjoy themselves. Volunteers tried to bring seniors out onto the dance floor to do simple dances that follow the flow of the music being played. Volunteers also encourage seniors to make up their own dance moves as well as sing to the lyrics of the well known songs.
Due to the impacts of Alzheimer’s and Dementia, some of the seniors struggle to maintain their life efficiently. By fostering their lively entertainment, volunteers are able to replenish their brains healthily and make them feel orderly in their lives. The environment created allowed for strong connections, productivity, and fun amongst the seniors and volunteers.
AYLUS Dix Hills is actively working to innovate and improve the senior community’s interest and happiness. We hope to make a positive impact on their well-being.
Volunteers: Sara Kong (2 hours) Jason Cheng (1 hour and 30 minutes), Evan Sun (1 hour and 30 minutes), and Ming Chen (1 hour and 30 minutes).
