AYLUS Dix Hills Branch works with the Alzheimer’s and dementia center to provide entertainment for patients on March 4, 2023. Volunteers provided entertainment to the seniors, dancing with them, engaging with them, and communicating possible activities that they can do to further enjoy themselves. Volunteers tried to bring seniors out onto the dance floor to do simple dances that follow the flow of music. Volunteers also encourage seniors to make up their own dance moves as well as sing.
Providing entertainment and engaging with Alzheimer’s patients is incredibly valuable. Alzheimer’s disease can be a very isolating and confusing experience for patients, as it affects their memory and ability to communicate effectively. This can lead to feelings of loneliness, boredom, and frustration. By providing entertainment and engaging with them, we can help to reduce these negative emotions and create a sense of connection and joy. Additional, engaging with Alzheimer’s patients can help to slow down the progression of the disease. Studies have shown that activities such as music therapy, art therapy, and reminiscence therapy can help to improve cognitive function and reduce behavioral problems in Alzheimer’s patients. By providing entertainment and engaging with them in these types of activities, we can help to improve their quality of life and overall well-being. Furthermore, engaging with Alzheimer’s patients can be incredibly rewarding for caregivers and family members. It can help to create positive memories and strengthen relationships, as well as provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
Providing entertainment and engaging with Alzheimer’s patients is a valuable and important aspect of their care. It can help to improve their quality of life, slow down the progression of the disease, and create positive memories for both patients and caregivers. AYLUS Dix Hills hopes to continue to make a positive impact on the community’s senior community for specifically their well-being.
