San Diego Branch Kicked off 1st Digital Art Workshop on Feb. 18th, 2023

Reported by Kevin Kan

On February 18, San Diego students of Aylus hosted its first digital art workshop. The goal of this workshop is to inspire and encourage 5-9th grade students to learn and create digital arts in a fun and creative way. Another goal of this workshop is to raise funds for the Libraries of Love, a project to build libraries for K-8 kids in Africa and provide books to them.
We plan to host the workshop every Saturday and have volunteers/teaching assistants to aid students. We hope that this group class makes students that are fresh to digital art less intimidated by it, and to gain confidence in their art skills.
Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers are able to teach students a wide range of digital art skills and provide technical support, starting from beginner knowledge to more advanced techniques. We give students time to practice during class, and at the end we share our work. We hope students will not only sharpen skills, but also to express themselves and find enjoyment in digital art.
There were 11 students participated in the first class,  and the following volunteers participated 02/18/2023 event:
Kevin Kan for 4.0 volunteering hours,
Lauren Kan for 2.0 volunteering hours
Jessi Zhang for 2.0 volunteering hours.
