On the morning of February 11th, 2023, nine members of the Frisco and Plano AYLUS branch collected, organized, and directed the pickup of hundreds of books. These books are all donations that help support the Libraries with Love project.
Our mission and ultimate goal regarding Libraries with Love is to build three to five libraries in certain areas of Africa. This would improve the educational opportunities there for children, providing a free system from which kids can learn. By the end of 2023, the Frisco and Plano AYLUS branch hopes to accomplish this project, spreading awareness about the importance of books in education(especially in developed regions). Everyone worked hard at this meeting. This morning, hundreds of books were packed into boxes and carried to cars for shipping. Among the books were all sorts of genres: cookbooks; fiction works of romance, mystery, suspense, dystopia, fantasy, science, reality, and history; handbook guides; encyclopedias; textbooks of biology, science, programming, history, and mathematics; children’s books; nonfiction; dictionaries; thesauruses; memoirs; etc.. The group always stayed on task and got the work done efficiently. Overall, it was a great show of teamwork and dedication; we are extremely grateful for the members’ help.
