On 1/28 Saturday from 9:30 to 12:00 AM, Great Neck Branch volunteered at Bethpage State Park School Garden for the first time.
Our goal was to create an outdoor garden for Beth page elementary school. We created a brush pile for mammals by cropping tree branches for easy wildlife access. A brush pile is something that provides cover from predators and places for nests, escape routes, and dens. The decomposing wood attracts insects, which can provide food for mammals. We wish that this green space will serve as an educational tool and a natural plant learning place for students!
