From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 14, the Bellaire Branch of AYLUS volunteered at Undies For Everyone.
Undies For Everyone is an organization that uses donors and volunteers to provide children living in poverty or crisis with new underwear and recognizes that this is an important need for childrens’ long-term success.
Founded in 2012, Undies For Everyone began by donating 9000 pairs of underwear to Houston’s school district headquarters. Area districts with greater than 50% of “economically disadvantaged” students qualified for help, each annually receiving boxes with 150 pairs of underwear. In 2017, when Hurricane Harvey struck, Undies For Everyone sent over 1.4 million pairs of Disaster Relief underwear to people affected by the hurricane in just 4 months. Shortly after, the organization started helping victims of natural disasters in other states, followed by national expansion. Now, Undies For Everyone serves children in 15 cities across 9 states.
Undies For Everyone uses volunteers to help deliver, process, and distribute underwear. At this event, AYLUS volunteers rolled and packaged underwear into bags, each containing 7 pairs of underwear.
13 volunteers participated in this event (1/14, 2 hours): Alexander Tang, Isabel Li, Zachary Xiao, Megan Wang, Victoria Wang, Helena Wang, Jason Chen, Daniel Chan, Danica Du, Feifan Liu, Zoey Dou, and Shreyas Sinha.
