Greater Princeton AYLUS Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at NJ Commemorative Commission Youth Conference on January 16th, 2023

The NJ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Commission invites Cassie Wang (1/16, 3 hrs), the President of Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), and any young people ages 13-26 to its annual Youth Conference being held on Monday, January 16th 2023, from 9:30 AM: Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere.

The New Jersey Martin Luther King Jr. Commission continuously works to raise public awareness of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s ideals and philosophy. The Annual King Holiday Commemorative Celebration is held each year in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.

The Commemorative Celebration brings together a diverse group of people to celebrate Dr. King’s life’s work and legacy. It also allows New Jerseyans an opportunity to recommit themselves to fulfilling Dr. King’s dreams in the 21st century. The Commemorative Celebration continues to be the premier event in the State of New Jersey that honors Dr. King.

The annual New Jersey Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission 2023 virtual YOUTH CONFERENCE is youth from across the state talking and learning about social justice & living and growing in New Jersey with elected officials, community leaders, entrepreneurs, educators and others! With Keynote speaker Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ CD-12) and a Roundtable exploring our theme: Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere with Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (NJ LD-15) and Rev Dr. Charles Boyer of Salvation & Social Justice and youth representatives.

NJ High School Seniors: Tune in for the 2023 MLK Jr. Scholarship Contest Announcement! The Commission will be awarding ten $5,000 scholarships! 2023 MLK SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY CONTEST

  • Ten (10) scholarship awards in the amount of $5,000 per student (NJ High School Seniors)
  • Requirements: MUST submitted to all three (3) essays questions based on the theme, “Injustice Anywhere Is a Threat to Justice Everywhere”
  • Deadline: Friday, February 24, 2023 at 5PM to submit online application

SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY TOPICS

All three (3) essays questions MUST be submitted to apply for the scholarship:

  1. How does the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. inspire you as you think about your future? (Word Count: 100 to 300 words)
  2. Please tell us about your service to others during your high school years. (Word Count: 100 to 300 words)
  3. The Gandhian Society recently opened the Eternal Gandhi Peace Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In your own words, how do you think Mahatma Gandhi influenced Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? (Word Count: 100 to 300 words)
