For the month of September, I tutored a senior citizen with English for an hour every Friday of each week. The student requested to use the Bible for the lessons, so I guided her through a few chapters from the Book of John each lesson and would give her words to work on that she had trouble with. Although I am not Christian, it was interesting to read through the Gospels and learn more about biblical stories while helping a citizen improve her language and communication. My personal strength is with writing and language, so I feel that I had the adequate skills needed to give my student accurate and useful lessons on English. Even with words I was unfamiliar with, I was able to use the context of the passage and my past experiences to successfully guide my student through the section.
