On December 27, 2022, AYLUS Pearland hosted a face painting and balloon twisting workshop at the Westside Library from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The event was open to the community and aimed to promote the upcoming Pearland Lunar New Year Festival.
At the workshop, volunteers shared multiple paint pallets to create Chinese New Year themed face art, drawing inspiration from Kate Liu’s Pinterest board. To practice, the volunteers first tried out the designs on their own arms before moving on to painting each other’s faces. The event attracted children at the library, and the volunteers painted their faces and informed them about the upcoming festival.
After the face painting workshop, a balloon art instructor arrived to showcase her creations. AYLUS volunteers picked festival-related themes and practiced twisting balloons using videos as a guide. The volunteers gave away all the products to children at the library to promote the first Lunar New Year Festival that AYLUS Pearland co-hosted in January 2023.
