Reported by Julie Lu
On November 26, 2022, Murrieta AYLUS members Jessica Lu and Hsin-Chen Lu worked on The Little Garden of Hope project. First, they headed to their local Home Depot to buy seeds. The majority of the seeds weren’t suitable to grow in November/December, and the members searched for a while before finally finding a couple. After making their purchase, the members headed to the garden and continued sifting through the soil for roots left over from previous plants and any objects that would hinder the growth of the seeds. The members found many roots embedded into the soil, a grub, a couple of onions, and some other unidentifiable vegetables. Following that, the members mixed new gardening soil and fertilizer into the soil and evened the ground out. At the end of the day, the members managed to finish prepping and planting seeds into two beds. Although it was hard work, the members enjoyed themselves and looked forward to their next visit.
