On November 19, 2022, Murrieta AYLUS members Cathy Liu, Jessica Lu, Adora Xiao, and Hsin-Chen Lu continued to help with The Little Garden of Hope project. An earlier volunteer group had leftover soil from plotting succulent plants, so the staff at Jacob’s House, knowing that the members would need soil for the garden, had it placed on the side. Everybody quickly found a task to busy themselves with. With help, the dirt was moved one wheelbarrow at a time to the garden for easier access. While the soil was being moved, the other members were busy pulling out the old plants and ridding the dirt of roots to ensure smooth growth for the new seeds. They were shocked by how many roots there were hidden in the dirt. While sifting through the dirt, some members even found red onions, potatoes, and other unidentifiable vegetables that weren’t harvested. After a few hours of work, the members dusted off their hands and called it a day. It was fun helping with the gardening project, and the members look forward to doing it again soon!
