On Saturday, August 27th , 2022, AYLUS Pearland hosted a garage sale at Silverlake, Pearland from 7-11:30am. Starting at 6:30 am, parents and members set up advertisement signs in the
community and arranged sale items. People started lining up at the driveway at 7:00 AM, while
AYLUS volunteers helped them select items and calculate costs. Because of the large variety of
items, many customers called their relatives to join them in buying clothes, shoes, toys, and
small appliances too. At around 11am, the volunteers started cleaning up by dividing the unsold
items into two categories: new items that will be saved for future online sales and others that
were packed in boxes that will be donated to churches in Mexico.
The total funds raised from this event, including the online and onsite presale, was
$1,429, the highest amount from a single garage sale in AYLUS Pearland’s history. All the funds
will be used to support a variety of high school extracurricular activities through a formal AYLUS
Pearland fund application and approval procedure that was initiated this year. This fundraiser
will support the Dawson tennis team, girls’ golf team, Robotics Booster Organization, DECA, and
Art Honor Society.
