On Saturday morning, Chapel Hill Branch members volunteered at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge. The refuge is an animal protection non-profit organization that is run by volunteers. It provides lifelong care to rescued farm animals by giving them a home in the sanctuary. Some of the animals that have been rescued are sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, and cows. Our job was to help clean up and flat the walking ground for future volunteers in the newly built storage room which would store all the supplies and necessities they would need for the cows. During those three hours of hard work, we cut and pulled out dead grass from the ground, flattened the uneven and bumpy soil, and settled gravel on top of the surface. It was a tiring yet new and fun experience, and we can’t wait to help again next time.
Volunteers that participated in this event are: Kevin Chen (3 hrs), Luna Chen (3 hrs)
