On Saturday 7/30/22, AYLUS Bayside members Angela(Jiamin) Wang, Michael(Jiaqi) Wang, Nian Li, Alyssa Huang and Margaret Zhang conducted a cleanup event at Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY, partnering with AYLUS Syosset Branch.
The Town of Oyster Bay is the easternmost of the three towns which make up Nassau County, New York. There are lots of mistakenly disposed garbage on the beach which makes this clean-up beneficial to the environment. We drove over 30 minutes in the afternoon to get there and collected three bags of garbage.
In the end, we took away the trash bags and disposed them to a dumpster.
Trash pollution is a long-term issue in the world today. It causes harm to the environment and to the natural habitat of the animals. This event was an attempt to help the local community and to keep the beauty of the environment in the community.
Participants included Angela Wang (1hour), Michael Wang (1hour), Nian Li (1hour), Lisa Jin, Jiaomei Ye from Bayside Branch, and Alyssa Huang (1hour), Margaret Zhang (1hour) from Syosset Branch.
