On July 4th, 2022, AYLUS Pearland volunteers helped with the Celebration of Freedom event for city of Pearland. There were a total 61 volunteers who participated in the event, which lasted from 4:30 to 10 in the evening. Several volunteers came ahead of the scheduled time for event planning and organizing.
The event took place at Pearland Independence Park. Volunteers were grouped in pairs and assigned to an inflatable, where they regulated the line and directed who gets to enter the inflatable. They also looked to see if the visitors had a wristband, which were required if they wanted to play in the inflatables. If they did not have a wristband, the volunteers directed them to the correct location where they could purchase one. There were a few volunteers who were not located at an inflatable. They passed out water to volunteers and helped whenever and wherever they were needed. A few volunteers left early because of the intense heat.
The fireworks started at 9 and ended at 9:30. The inflatables were shut down during this time and everyone, including the volunteers, stopped and watched the fireworks. After the fireworks, the event ended with a re-opening of the inflatables for half an hour.
