Greater Princeton AYLUS Promotes Youth Volunteerism at Chess Classes & Tournaments (73rd) in June 2022

The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) Sports Committee promotes youth volunteerism while continuing tournaments and a chess schedule with classes (Spring Chess Openings) in 2022. Before class, GPA gives a quick presentation about what AYLUS is and what we do for the community at AYLUS to the students.

We are holding a class where students learn many chess openings. Eager chess players meet every week for a training camp to learn about openings that are important to starting off a game of chess strong. This week, we looked at the French Defense advance variation. Everyone had fun learning about a variation of the French Opening and enjoyed challenging their minds with hard puzzles.

GPA Volunteers: Sarah Yan (6/13, 2 hrs each), Erick Yan (6/13, 2 hrs each), George Chen (6/13, 2 hrs each).

GPA Chess Club’s next tournament will be on Saturday, July 9th, starting at 7PM EST. The time control will remain the same (G10+5) and everyone is welcome. All ages can come and compete with their skills and have fun playing games of chess.
