In March of 2022, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS held a fundraiser in the form of a SAT prep camp. All proceeds would be donated to the CCYA. This prep camp focused on the two math sections being the non-calculator and calculator section of the test with some students taking the reading and writing sections. The attendees would be taught by members of the branch who had previously received perfect scores or 99% in their respective subjects for the SAT.
The sessions started on March 13th and would occur every Sunday. Two math sections were given to the attendees to take. These tests were timed accordingly to Collegeboard standards with appropriate break times in between. After the students finished taking both sections, the tutor would read out the answers, and students had time to go over their test with the correct answers. When a student didn’t understand a certain problem, the tutor would go over it on a white board and make sure everything was clear for the students. Another tutor taught the reading and writing sections, and they would also follow the same procedures of giving the tests and then going over them. Tutoring was fun for the tutors, and it made them glad they could teach other students their strategies and tips that allowed them to achieve a high SAT score.
