AYLUS-SYOSSET SEEDING HOPE IN SPRING

As we all know, spring is coming soon, now is the most important seeding time of the year, AYLUS members joined the volunteer team of LINPI, came to the greenhouse on March 13, 2022, helped to stratify the seeds, filled the trays with seed-starting mix, opened the heating pads, then we can await the first signs of germination in the coming spring. We are so excited. There is nothing like sowing seeds to show your hope for the future.

The Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI) is an all-volunteer cooperative effort of over 30 non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, nursery professionals, and citizens.

The mission of this organization is to protect the genetic integrity and heritage of Long Island native plant populations and thus biodiversity from a landscape to a genetic level, by establishing commercial sources of genetically appropriate local (ecotypic) plant materials for use in nurseries, landscaping, and habitat restoration activities.

Members from AYLUS-Syosset branches have volunteered in the seeding plan and have planned to join the following events of seedings, We also had nice conversations with the LINPI teams.

The following members have participated in the seeding event, Tommy Haotian Tang(1.5 hours), Sam Zhou(1 hour), and Haoyu Qiu(1 hour).
