On 7/31/21, The AYLUS Manhasset Branch hosted a college application session featuring Mr. Hsin from UPenn Wharton Business School. The session lasted from 8:45pm to 10pm.
During the session, Mr. Hsin gave many tips and advice when it came to college applications. For example, he gave tips on what type of essay someone should write and topics that would help make a student stand out. He said students should focus on narrative and try to create a story instead of making something considered more “professional.”
There was also a Q&A session where participants asked questions regarding the process. This brought up other factors students should consider when choosing their colleges. For example, if a student already has a major they want to pursue, they should chose a college that is highly ranked for the specific major. Secondly, it is also recommended to to chose a college that has a variety of majors in case students want to pursue a different one. It is also important to be aware of what background professors have to get the most out of the classes.
All in all, it was a very informative event that would benefit many students who are considering their future and college. Information that was brought up would help students with many factors and challenges present in college administrations.
