In July of 2021, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS held its 2021 Summer PSAT summer prep camp. The camp was scheduled to be 2 weeks long, with 6 sessions. Each session would be split into two one-hour lessons; this would give each subject of the PSAT, reading, writing, and math, 4 lessons each. Each of the lessons would be taught by members of the branch who had previously received perfect scores or 99% in their respective subjects for the PSAT.
The first week began on July 20, with reading and writing. As this was the first session, we spent some time explaining our teaching styles, what and how much we would cover, and general tips that can be applied on the PSAT. Generally, the tutors would go over tips and tricks before having the students apply them in practice questions they had prepared. The first session went well, with around 30 students attending.
The next session happened two days later on July 22. On that day, reading and math were taught. Once again, we had a healthy student population, this time around 25. The structure of the session was the same as it had been two days ago, only since that reading had already been introduced, only math had an additional introduction. The lessons went smoothly, with numerous students asking for further reference material.
The final session for the first week happened on Saturday, July 24. Writing and math were taught. As the tutors and students had now experienced all of the various lessons, they were able to move through their lessons efficiently.
