On June 2nd for 2 hours, two writing enthusiasts, GPA members Karen Yang and Eliana Du, met virtually, and will continue doing so every Wednesday, with middle schoolers to write, explore, conference, and create. Class was online, through the software “Google Meets.”
This week we began with a fun fact about reading. Then, we dove into our activity for the day by discussing what “theme” is. We compared the definition of theme to the definition of key ideas. We then read “The Lady or the Tiger” by Frank R. Stockton as a class, pausing for clarification along the way. Similarly, at the end, we discussed among ourselves whether we thought the lady or the tiger came out of the door. We then answered some discussion questions about the theme. Next week, we’ll be having our last class before summer!
