San Diego Branch celebrates Earth Day by organizing the first Battery Recycling Event on April 24th, 2021.

Reported by Samuel Li

Countless ecological problems plague our planet. Due to limitations from the currently ongoing pandemic, traditional earth day activities aimed at protecting our planet cannot be organized.

In the spirit of Earth day, AYLUS San Diego is excited to announce the Battery Recycling event, starting this Spring.

Used batteries can cause damage to our planets if thrown away irresponsibly. In order to better look after our planet, we encourage everyone to engage with their communities and help recycle used batteries in order to prevent accidental improper disposal. We encourage participants to also contact neighbors and other members of their community, to help them dispose of their used batteries as well!

In this battery recycling event, as of April 24th, 2021, AYLUS San Diego volunteers collected used batteries from neighbors and other members of their community, and responsibly recycled 1476 batteries at the correct facilities.

The following AYLUS San Diego volunteers participated in the first Battery Recycling Event:

Samuel Li – 684 Batteries

Daniel Li – 612 Batteries

Andrew Chen – 180 Batteries
