On the evening of December 12th, AYLUS Pearland with the City of Pearland Parks and Recreation
Department prepared and guided the participants of the Tour De Lites bicycle riding event.
On the weekend before the school semester final exams, volunteers gathered in Pearland
Independence Park around 4:45 in the afternoon and helped bike riders sign up as they came to
the pavilion. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, every volunteer wore the mask, and Parks and Recreation provided masks
and water for riders.
There were 2 shifts in the event: 4:45 – 6:45 p.m. and 6:45 – 8:45 p.m. In the first shift, volunteers
tried to set up the registration and assist with directing people; then, they helped lead some of
the bicycle riders on the tour itself along with the Pearland Police Department. During the 2nd
shift, the Tour De Lites riding, volunteers mainly assisted in guiding participants as well as
keeping them in order. The riding event was successfully held and everyone kept order and safe.
Volunteers: Fred Guo, Junyan Chen (2 shifts), Karen Xu (2 shifts), Matthew Li, Zhaoyu Chen (2
