Greater Princeton AYLUS Continues Teaching Kids Math (46th) in December 2020

In December 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) teamed up and continued teaching kids in the subjects of math.

GPA members Karen Yang (12/6, 2 hrs), Kevin Song (12/6, 2 hrs), Kathy Yang (12/6, 2 hrs): This week we continued our Algebra content! First, we gave the kids a warm up question on exponents, what we learned last time. We then continued with content on negative exponents and the relationships between them. We also discussed what anything to the power of 0 would be and how to figure out the exponent of a product. Students then did some practice problems, and we went over them. Next, we discussed fractional exponents and did more practice. Then, we assigned homework for the next class and played a Gimkit, a virtual Kahoot like game, to really practice our exponent knowledge. We’ll be having class next Sunday!

GPA member Dawson Lin (12/5, 1 hr) taught his students for SAT Math & English Reading and Writing.

GPA member Annabelle Huang (12/5, 2 hrs) also tutored an 8th-grade student on math and PSAT prep.

GPA member Annie Miao (12/3, 2 hrs; 12/6, 2 hrs): This week, Annie tutored two students in math through a local tutoring program. She taught one of her students about square roots while her other student had a review for her upcoming chapter #5 test in school about the forms of linear lines.
