Through October, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA members Catherine Feng organized the tutoring program (11/1, 2 hrs) and taught her student Brandon English for 1 hour through reading comprehension on Sunday, 11/1, from 4:30 – 5:30 pm.
Ryan Tian taught his student Aishia Chinese for half an hour on Monday, 11/2, from 7:00-7:30 pm. He also tutored for 2 hours each on Fridays 10/23 and 10/30 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, teaching two kids English and Math. He tutored two different kids on Sundays 10/25 and 11/1, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, on Math and English.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu also teamed up to teach their student English through conversations for 2 hours on Saturday, 10/31, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
Elizabeth Jia prepared her lesson and taught her students English through reading for two hours on Saturday, 10/31, from 9:00-10:00 pm.
Ruofei Olivia Mao taught her student Summer English through reading for an hour on Saturday, 10/31, from 1:10-2:10 pm.
Siquan Qiu taught her student English for 30 minutes on Monday, 10/19, and for 7 minutes on Monday, 10/23, through reading comprehension.
Abigail Bao (10/30, 2 hrs; 11/1, 2 hrs) and Ruofei Olivia Mao (10/30, 2 hrs) taught their students in the subjects of English reading and writing, focusing on story-telling.
Dawson Lin (10/31, 2 hrs) taught SAT Math and English on reading & writing. Great work AYLUS members!
Allen Zhang taught English to a student in New York for 3 hours on 10/31.
