Greater Princeton AYLUS Started Teaching at a STEM Summer Camp (2nd) on August 27, 2020

Recently, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) members and students from the community teamed up to teach kids science and math as a part of a 2 week STEM Summer Camp (8/25-9/3) in the area.

It is a daily summer camp for the students, who learn a different subject each day. Because of COVID-19, the camp now takes place through Zoom with counselors making slideshows or preparing material electronically in advance. For science, the plan is to teach the students about the human body and the weather. For math, the plan is to teach the students about patterns and shapes.

On August 27, GPA member Annie Miao taught rising 1st graders about math. During the 1.5 hours, they learned about patterns, both recognizing them from repeating pictures and number patterns. The lesson again took place on Zoom as the students learned from a slideshow and played a Kahoot to review. Taught through Zoom and by going through a Slideshow with a Kahoot at the end to review.
