On August 18, 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) teamed up and taught kids in the subjects of reading and writing.
The 1.5-hour class offered by GPA members Karen Yang and Kathy Yang teach 5 middle schoolers, Aria, Claire, Victor, Meisu, and Helen, on reading and writing. This week was about the book talks that the students worked hard on. Beginning with the warmup was to respond to the prompt “I swear there wasn’t a hole in this tent when I left, then again, the blood wasn’t here either…” the students then responded to their peers’ responses. Then, it was time to introduce the presentations! I gave the expectations for the presenters and the audience members and they began with presentations. All students focused, presented their knowledge, asked and answered questions and learned a lot. At the end, they presented the homework for the next class.
Anthony F Yang did 2 hours of Community Service through the preparation and class of tutoring third graders(Aimee Zhang, Mulan Yang, Nico Fischer, Dayna Li) reading and writing.
