Phoenix Branch Summer Volunteer Activities Reported in Local Newspaper: Phoenix Chinese Press on July 31, 2020

Phoenix branch summarized recent volunteer activities during summer break and reported them as a series of reports on Chinese local new paper Phoenix Chinese Press.

The 2nd of the series is about ear savers by crocheting and sewing. Phoenix branch initiates ear savers projects starting by end of May 2020, because Arizona COVID-19 still not under control and spread widely.  Frontline Healthcare workers need to wear face mask daily and monthly, these ear savers function in, quite literally, saving ears. Because of the face masks that require wearing straps around the ears, healthcare workers often undergo lots of strain in their ears. Ear savers alleviate this pain as they can be attached to the straps around the face masks from the back of the head instead of the ear.

These ear savers are made by crocheting one needle by one needle, one ear saver takes about more than 3 hours for a beginner, about more than 15-20mins for proficient one, it will take a long time from beginner to proficient. So far AYLUS Phoenix already made and collect more than 800 ear savers, which will be donated to the hospitals.
