Greater Princeton AYLUS Teamed up to Tutor Kids Math (20th) on June 28, 2020

On June 28, 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), Kevin Song and Karen Yang, teamed up and taught kids from West Windsor in the subjects of math. The 1.5-hour class offered by GPA members Karen Yang and Kevin Song teach Pre-Algebra class to 6 kids: Kathy, Victor, Claire, Meisu, Claire, and Mia.

This week was continuing to learn through the Pre Algebra book, onto Chapter 6, about decimals! They did a warm up of various decimal problems and then began our lesson by asking kids how to convert decimals into fractions and back. Then, they talked about repeating decimals, giving examples and “You Try” problems. The GPA teachers gave students a chance to recognize patterns between decimals and assigned homework. Finally, for the math portion, they wrapped up by playing a decimal Kahoot and finished class with a science lesson (Ecology) on energy transfer through the food pyramid.
