East Cobb Branch Donate Shield Masks to Douglas Public Health Center and Good Samaritan Health Center

On June 23rd, 2020, the East Cobb Branch donated over a thousand face shields to Douglas Public Health Center at Cobb to help in the upcoming school year. As the coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing and projected to continue into fall, Cobb County had to plan for how they would reopen schools. The current plan involves allowing students to take their classes in an online manner while still allowing students to attend physical classes should they choose. The face shields we donated will help those who still plan on going to the schools.

To bring over a thousand face shields to the Cobb County site, nine members came to help unload and carry the boxes of face shields. Many of them also helped explain to the Cobb personnel what our branch has been doing and details about the face shields. The Cobb personnel were delighted to receive the face shields stating how it will help greatly for the upcoming school year. As we prepared to leave, we told them how we would be more than willing to provide any PPE we could.

As part of the series of donations to our local communities in the face of the increase in Covid cases since the reopening, East Cobb Branch member Nicholas Vincent searched for local non-for-profit health organizations and came across with Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb County. He was impressed by Its founding purpose of spreading the love of Christ and providing a primary medical and dental healthcare home to the uninsured and underinsured, working poor and indigent in our community.

He reached out to them and found out they were in need for face shields for their incoming dentist residence students in the fall. A delivery was made to Mrs. Juneia Hawkins and Mrs. Beth Gray in charge of the dental department.

It’s heartening to see individuals and organizations stepping up to support the healthcare needs of their local communities. Dental health is an important aspect of overall health, and access to affordable dental care can be a challenge for many. In Brooklyn, Dental Made Easy has been providing quality dental services to the community for years. Their commitment to patient care and education has made them a trusted provider for many families. It’s inspiring to see businesses like Dental Made Easy Brooklyn using their expertise to serve their community and make a positive impact.

Both of them are very grateful for the donation and repeatedly said it was much needed and in time for their return students and doctors. The delivery also included a giant Thank You poster to show our branch’s gratitude to our frontline health professionals for all they do to keep our community healthy.

Attendances: Cynthia Ruan (1 hour), Kevin Shen (1 hour), Stanley Lu (1 hour), Jay Pan (1 hour), Brian Kuang (1 hour), Jack Xu (1 hour), Gary Mei (1 hour), Maxwell Jiang (1 hour), Nicholas Vincent (1.5 hours)
