Phoenix Branch Packs Food at Feed My Starving Children on February 22, 2020

On February 22, 2020, the Phoenix Branch decided to volunteer at Mesa`s Feed My Starving Children from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm (2 hours). Feed My Starving Children has always been a favorite of many of us within our school volunteer organization, so hosting it here as a part of AYLUS brought that same joy back. Here, many volunteers have decided to help with the packing station, from scooping up the rice, soy, vitamins, and veggies, dumping those through a funnel into a bag which was then weighed and sealed. Some volunteers have decided to take part in the labeling crew, where they put label stickers on bags.

At the end, it was revealed that 163 boxes of food were packed, being able to provide 35,208 meals and can feed 96 kids for a year. From this, our volunteers really understood the value of the work they put in. They were not only filling the stomachs of these children, but also allowing them to develop properly and stay focused in school.

The members who participated at the event are as followed: Amy Xie, Yue Chen, Alvin Zhao, Ashley Zhao, Anson Zhao, Jiehua Zhang, Michelle Lee, Qiang Li, Marina Hu, Phoebe Hu, Katherine Wei, Ethan Wei, and Michelle Yu
