Phoenix Branch Packed Meals at “Midwest Food Bank” on January 18, 2020

On January 18, 2020 from 9am to 12pm, the Phoenix branch volunteered at Midwest Food Bank which serves 200 agency partners and helps fight against hunger in the southwest region of the United States. The mission of Midwest Food Bank is alleviating hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and providing disaster relief; all without discrimination. Their vision is to faithfully continue to help those in need by sharing the blessings.

Richard Cheng, Michael Chen, Ethan Wei, Amy Xie, Daniel Wong, Marie Chen, Jiyu Wang, Sydney Li, Ivy Wang, Phoebe Wang, and Michelle Lee participated in this 3 hour event. During the session, volunteers packed boxes full of cereal. Volunteers had to first scoop fruit loops from big buckets into small, plastic bags and seal the bags. Each bag was then put into another bucket to pack into boxes. Each box contained 50 bags. In total, the volunteers packed approximately 200 boxes! The volunteers not only had fun getting to know each other while wearing snazzy hair nets and enjoying throwback music but also made a great impact on our community.
