Phoenix Branch partners with “Toastmasters” in a meeting on January 12, 2020

On January 12, 2020 from 3:45pm to 4:45pm (one hour), members from the Phoenix brand participated in a Toastmasters International meeting at GPCCC. The topic of the meeting and the table topic questions was about volunteering and many topics such as how volunteering develops skills and why should we volunteer was discussed. During this meeting, public speaking and leaderships were improved while topics were discussed by all members both in Toastmasters and Aylus.

Presidents from each group gave brief introductions for their respective group, and then formalities followed. Each role was introduced for the meeting, then the speaking begun. First, two prepared speeches were given which were each five minutes long; one speech was about the benefits of volunteering and the other was about earworms. Then, two evaluators had three minutes to give feedback to each of the prepared speeches. Finally, many one-minute impromptu speeches were given by most of the participating members and guests and the best of each category were chosen.

Aylus members Katherine Wei, Ethan Wei, Kerry Zhuo, Daniel Wong, Richard Cheng, Caleb Liu, Victor Long, and Hannah Luo all participated in this event.

Experience about each of the clubs were shared in order to enrich the community and improve the overall leadership in Phoenix along with awareness of volunteering opportunities.
