On Saturday, November 30th, 2019, the Edison Branch of AYLUS : Victoria He, Prince Hu, Angela Hu, Xin Chen, Angela Bao, Caroun Hu, Bruce He, William E Zhang , Aaron S Zhang ,Samntha Luo , Li Zhang, Anmei Deng and Qin Zhang went to the North Edison Public Library to make holiday cards for hospital residents in the county.
They spent the morning mostly in silence, and sometimes a voice would pipe up, needing somebody else to bounce ideas off of. They came up with quirky sayings to write on the cards (eg. “happy ho-ho-holidays”) and by the end of the morning, the volunteers’ cards were getting more and more extravagant, with some of them making pop-up cards and others adding layers of stickers and beautiful designs.
At the end of the day, the volunteers could likely have given Hallmark a run for its money, cranking out card after card. When asked about the day, one of the volunteers smiled and said, “It was fun to make cards knowing that you will probably brighten up someone’s day.” All in all, it was a beautiful day to be making beautiful cards.
