Greater Princeton AYLUS Teamed up and Started Teaching Kids the Board Game Go in Montgomery on November 9, 16 and 23, 2019

Reported by Fengqi Wen

Student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), Fengqi Wen and Mingjie Liu, teamed up and started teaching kids from Montgomery the board game Go, or Weiqi.

The class was one and a half hours, and Fengqi and Mingjie started preparing for materials around 5:30 pm. Then between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm, they taught the kids fundamental rules and nouns of Go. The 3 kids, Annie, Adam and Ethan, are in kindergarten, and being taught how to play Go, they were thrilled.

We assigned homework for the kids to review what they learned in the class. The teachers were glad that the kids were happy and interactive during class, and they were happy that their skills in Go can help others.

They’ve met on Saturdays once a week since November 9, 2019. Below are the dates and times of the three classes so far.
