Reported by Amber Yu

The Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team served the Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) on November 6, 2019. They worked with the music program director Yvonne and brought music to the whole kitchen.
PCCK is a food pantry regularly serving dinner and providing kids with a play area once a week on Wednesdays. The kitchen’s goal is to help underprivileged people in the Princeton area.

After the successful Halloween special program for children, Amber Yu continued to expand the GPA’s volunteer participation at the kitchen. She contacted Yvonne and committed to providing a musical program as a special addition to the dinner.
On November 6 from 5 pm to 6 pm, Xiangcheng Samuel Ying, Fengqi Wen and Amber Yu conducted a small performance. Xiangcheng played River Flows in You (piano); Fengqi played Franz Wilhelm Ferling Etude No.3 (clarinet); and Amber played Scherzo (cello). The beautiful music brought lasting joy and peace to the people in the kitchen. This special program amazed Yvonne, and she was grateful to the GPA members’ time and efforts.

After the performance, Fengqi Wen also served meals from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Participants: Amber Yu (1 hour), Xiangcheng Samuel Ying (1 hour), and Fengqi Wen (2 hours).
