Phoenix Branch Volunteered in “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s” On November 2, 2019

On November 2, 2019, the Phoenix branch participated in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s from 7am to 11am (4 hours). Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. Currently, Alzheimer’s disease has no cure but the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event that raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Katherine Wei, Michelle Yu, Marina Hu, Richard Cheng, Michael Chen as well as our junior AYLUS member including Carol Chen, Marie Chen, Amy Xie, Jack Xie, Ryan Duan, Michael Duan, Audrey Zhang participated in this 4 hour event. The volunteers held many posters encouraging the walkers such as “You rock!” and “You got this!” The volunteers stood at the start and finish line cheering on the walkers while wearing white and purple T-shirts and holding up a colorful array of flowers.

Over 12,000 people participated in the walk and it raised $662,785 for Alzheimer’s research. The Phoenix branch was delighted to be able to play a role in this successful event for a good cause.
