Phoenix Branch Packed Food at “Midwest Food Bank” on October 12, 2019

On October 12, 2019 from 9am to 11am, the Phoenix branch volunteered at Midwest Food Bank which serves 200 agency partners and helps fight against hunger in the southwest region of the United States. The mission of Midwest Food Bank is alleviating hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and providing disaster relief; all without discrimination. Their vision is to faithfully continue to help those in need by sharing the blessings.

Katherine Wei, Michelle Yu, Carrie Chen, Richard Cheng, Michael Chen, Grace Zhang, Ananya Ravichandran, and Shreya Sreekantham as well as many of our junior AYLUS members including Ethan Wei, Victor Long, Ryan Duan, Michael Duan, Diwen Cheng, Anson Zhao, Abby Xie, Ashley Zhao, Alvin Zhao, Jack Xie, and Amy Xie all participated in this 2 hour event. During the session, volunteers packed boxes full of snacks. Volunteers had to first take two different types of snacks (cheez-it and fig bars) and tape them together. Each box contained 50 of the two-snack packs. In total, the volunteers packed over 40 boxes! The volunteers not only had fun getting to know each other while wearing snazzy hair nets and enjoying throwback music but also made a great impact on our community.
