On September 6th, 2019, the Pearland branch volunteers participated in the school supplies packing event at Hobby Elementary School, along with volunteers from other places in the event hosted by Houston’s C.A.R.E. organization.
Event volunteers first took supplies out of boxes, picked pencils, scissors, crayons, markers, rulers, erasers etc. into a small bag, then filled it into a backpack with notebooks, folders, wraps, and tissue box. Within in 3 hours, the five youth volunteers and three parent volunteers efficiently packed 130 backpacks for all second year students. The volunteers also helped to sort and move the backpacks to classrooms, prepared ready for next days’ distribution.
Volunteers attended today’s event including; Andy Gu, Jayden Lu, Thomas Liang, Fred Guo, August Fan.
