On September 14th, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS held East Cobb Youth Tutoring program at East Cobb Library. A total of 4 students showed up with two tutors to help the students. As there is open slot, every student got extended tutoring session.
The East Cobb Branch holds the Youth Tutoring program every Saturday during school days, giving kids in the Cobb area an opportunity to receive help. The interaction between tutors and students also makes learning more enjoyable.
This time, the tutors taught 4 students. All 4 were elementary school. The tutors worked on a variety of subjects with their students. The program gives students a comfortable environment to ask for help in academics students such as reading and math.
One student, a 2nd grade girl from Sope Creek Elementary, had enjoyed being tutored by Faith so much last week that she came back again for over an hour. Her mom asked us to tutor her routinely on math and reading.
Another student, a 5th grader, came into the tutoring session asking for help on multiplication. He at first made plenty of mistakes, but as the tutor pointed these out and helped correct them, he started to improve steadily. The tutoring session extended 10 more minutes to him, then he was able to solve the problems with no issues.
