Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Cultural Exchange Program” team attended “Author Talk” event in Princeton Public Library (65 Witherspoon St., Princeton, NJ) to promote traditional culture on Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 10:00 pm to 1:00 pm (3 hours).
Mr. Patrick Pun, the Author of Peng Nei Peng Wai (In/Outside the Dubbing Studio), made a comprehensive introduction about Foreign Film Dubbing and Distribution History in past 70 years in Mainland China, combining the social development background in China and personal life of famous dubbing professionals during that period, especially during the cultural revolution.
Patrick, the son of famous dubbing actress Ms. Guangning Liu, grew up in the foreign film dubbing and music/opera community, has been the witness of first hand dubbing professionals’ lives inside and outside the studio during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s. Based on such first-hand life experiences and in-depth insights plus 13 interviews to 13 dubbing actors/actresses as well as family members of late dubbing professionals, Patrick wrote the book “In/outside Dubbing Studio” and this book was listed on several “Best Seller” lists in China. “The Soul of Voice”, the enlarged edition of “In/Outside Dubbing Studio”, will be launched on September 2019 and the audio book “Red Shoes of Gods” will also be launched by the end of 2019.
Patrick has worked with Directing Department of Shanghai Film Studios. After moving to Hong Kong in the early 1990s, he has worked with government and multinational companies such as Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Heineken, and GMI. Patrick Pun is Chairman & CEO of Surpassdata Limited (SPD), a Consumer Big Data and Panel Research Company.
