Phoenix Branch Packed Food at “St. Mary’s Food Bank” on August 10th, 2019

On August 10th, 2019 from noon to 2pm (2 hours), the Phoenix branch volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Bank which is the world’s first food bank. It serves to alleviate hunger through the gathering and distribution of food while encouraging self-sufficiency, collaboration, advocacy and education. St. Mary’s Food Bank exists to help feed hungry families throughout Phoenix and 9 Arizona counties.

Michelle Yu, Marina Hu, Sudhiksha Lingareddy, and Katherine Wei participated in this event. During the 2-hour session, volunteers packed emergency food boxes that included cereal, milk, canned food, etc. Volunteers also helped label boxes and open boxed packages to allow easy access to those who were packing food. Volunteers packed 10 palettes of 35 boxes of food.
