Greater Princeton AYLUS “Humanitarian Care” Team Served at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (14th) on July 24, 2019

Reported by Fengqi Wen

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team served again at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK). PCCK is a food kitchen regularly serving dinner once a week on Wednesdays. It also provides a free clothing store, health screenings, and kids playing area. The kitchen is aiming at helping underprivileged people in the Princeton area, now serving dinner to closer to 100 people every Wednesday evening.

On July 24, 2019, GPA team members, including Wenyuan Fang and Fengqi Wen, worked at PCCK from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm (2 hours). We supervised at the food store, giving out plastic bags for people to carry the food with while they were shopping, and making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. Other meal service volunteers served many families with delicious Chili, rice, fresh fruit salad, and bread.  When people were done with dinner, volunteers took away their dishes and sent to the kitchen to be cleaned. After the meal, GPA team members also handed out sandwiches or breakfast bags for people to bring home.

Once again, for GPA members it was a pleasant experience working at PCCK and very rewarding to see all the smiles on people’s faces. Everyone was happy to have this opportunity to serve others. During the summer break, we will have more free time and will come back for sure!
