Greater Princeton AYLUS “Humanitarian Care” Team Served at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (12th) on July 10, 2019

Reported by Aaron Wang

On July 10, 2019, Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team served again at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm (2 hours). PCCK is a food kitchen regularly serving dinner once a week on Wednesdays. It also provides a free clothing store, health screenings, and kids playing area. The kitchen is aiming at helping underprivileged people in the Princeton area, now serving dinner to closer to 100 people every Wednesday evening.

GPA members Fengqi Wen and Aaron Wang arrived at the kitchen early and lined up with some other volunteers. For dinner, Chicken, mixed vegetables, fresh fruit salad and bread were served. When the people were done with dinner, Fengqi Wen and Aaron Wang took away their dishes and sent to the kitchen to be cleaned.

The entire dinner service was accompanied by beautiful live piano music. It was a lovely place for people to enjoy the meals and fellowship with others.  During the meal service, people were called by their numbers to visit the food store and clothing store.  They were delighted that they could bring home clothes, extra food bags with fresh fruits and vegetables and other products of their choice. In addition to the main meal, Fengqi Wen and Aaron Wang also gave out sandwiches or breakfast bags for people to bring home.  After dinner, children started to play, adults visited the free healthcare service where they could have a checkup by the healthcare professionals.

Once again, for GPA members it was a pleasant experience working at PCCK and very rewarding to see all the smiles on people’s faces. Everyone was happy to have this opportunity to serve others. During the summer break, we will have more free time and will come back for sure!
