Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

On June 29, 2019, Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) and Rescue Music Foundation (RMF) students hosted a Benefit “Music From The Heart, You Could Save A Life” Performance at Channing Hall (50 Cherry Hill Rd., Princeton, NJ 08540), to support a teacher, Ms. Su, Wei, who has been battling cancer on her own since December 2018.

Beneficiary: Wei Su, a professional teacher for 20 years in Princeton area. She was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery in 2018. A new tumor later showed up; to cut it out might cause death. Although she has no income or family for support, Wei always faces everything positively with big smiles. No matter how long her life will be, she lives every day with a positive outlook on life. She will donate her body to serve the medical field. Many thanks to everyone for the support and effort to help her fight cancer, and she is doing  her best to return the love people give her!

From 12:30 to 5:30 pm, 102 performers and volunteers spent 5 hours working together to host this wonderful performance. The audience (around 200+ people) enjoyed the show very much. Council Vice-President for West Windsor, Dr. Yingchao “YZ” Zhang, a scientist, technologist, and a musician with passion, attended this students organized community event, and gave a great “One-Man-Band” warm-up performance. Mr. Shaolin Liu helped with the warm-up show, while Mr. Joseph Fong showed the youth volunteers how to manage the stage.

Many thanks to the following renowned musicians: Mr. Hanbo Liu, Mr. Paul Manulik, Ms. Xia Li, Ms. Dongli Li, as well as Mr. Mingyi Liu of Rescure Music Foundation, kindly joined youth volunteers for this great event.

The members brought lots of joy to the audience! Everyone was extremely appreciative of the performance and enjoyed it very much. The audience were tremendously impressed by the professional performances and strongly encouraged these talented students to perform again in the future.

Overall, $5184.88 was raised for Ms. Su at the event! Another good news is, Ms. Su is currently recovering from the surgery and decides to join AYLUS as an adult volunteer helping the students better serve the community!

In addition, $1004.73 was raised for the American Youth Leadership Foundation (AYLF) to recognize the great community service efforts of student volunteers of AYLUS organization nationwide.
