Greater Princeton AYLUS Helped with the New Jersey Makers Day Event on March 16 & 23, 2019

Reported by Amber Yu

Every March, New Jersey Maker’s Day takes place as a statewide celebration of making and a maker culture. Their primary goal is to enhance community engagement and facilitate connections among the Garden State’s residents by exploring new and interesting opportunities for community-wide education, entrepreneurship and hands-on learning experiences.

We had the honor of helping with the Plainsboro Public Library’s event on NJ Makers Day this year. We ran booths for activities such as brush bots, paper circuitry, yoghurt-making and more. We came to prepare all the materials the event would need and test the activities live at the library on March 16th, 2019, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm (1 hour), and then on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:45 am to 12:45 pm (2 hours) for the actual event to set up, hosting activities as well as clean up. The event was extremely successful and attracted many kids and their parents. Furthermore, it was a great experience to enjoy science and working with kids!
