East Cobb Branch Holds Youth Tutoring Program XXII

Our tutoring programs are held at two libraries, below are the reports from each library:

  1.  At East Cobb Library

On March 16th, the East Cobb branch of AYLUS held another tutoring session at the East Cobb Library. A total of six students showed up, with two tutors to teach the students. The tutoring lasted two hours and since not all of the students showed up the tutors had more time to explain the concept to the students.

The students range from K to 8th grade. The tutors worked on a variety of subjects like math, science, reading, and writing. The tutors used different styles of teaching based on the age group. For example, tutors drew out pictures to visualize math problems for 2nd graders to help them understand addition and subtraction.

The East Cobb Branch holds tutoring in the East Cobb Library weekly.

  1.   At Switzer Library

On March 16, two members from the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS went to Switzer Library to tutor kids in grades K – 8. The students were helped with reading, writing, and math.  The program occurs every Saturday from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. The program’s goal is to utilize the skills of the members to educate the community they serve. David and Stanley worked with the students on fractions and decimals.
